I have been debating what to do with the Fun with Sidebar tabs plugin and I have now come to a conclusion: I am going to replace it.
Update A beta version of the replacement is available here: http://www.wp-fun.co.uk/2008/09/06/wordpress-plugin-fun-with-widget-structures/
The plugin was expanding to the point that it was more than a simple tabbed sidebar plugin, it was based on pre-2.5 widget handling which added a lot of code than was unnecessary, and the interface was becoming difficult to use.
I also wasn’t really happy with the way the javascript moved content around and I needed to find a solution to the css specificity problems.
All of these are good reasons to update it; however, this is by far my most popular plugin and changing things so much would likely cause problems for a lot of people who update automatically without knowing these changes are coming.
I have now completely rewritten the plugin and I am polishing the edges ready for the first beta. The new plugin will be called Fun with Widget Structures.
One change that won’t necessarily be popular is that the new plugin won’t be compatible with PHP4.

Well, Widgets are being redone for 2.8. If they do a good job then I will look at what needs doing. If the widget system isn't significantly better then I may not do any further work on it.

Hi, I'm very exited about this new plugin.. I simply can't wait!
Do you know when you'll release the next version?
Thanks in advance

The tabs just contain the title the widget sets so you would need to edit the actual widget to do that.

Hi! How Can I make the date appear on the tab. Because I've assigned recent posts to appear on the tab but it only displays the title of the post. Thanks!
